Where Are Safety Switches Located on Yard Machine Mowers?
Yard Machines have a safety switch by the clutch brake pedal, which you must completely depress when starting the mower. Other safety switches are located by the lift and shift levers, and under the seat. The lift lever must be in the "stop blades" position when starting or shifting the mower, or when you leave the seat.

Sit in the driver's seat of your lawn mower on a level surface, such as a driveway or sidewalk. On a gear-drive model, put the transmission shift lever on the right side of the seat in the "N" slot for neutral. Pull the attachment lift lever on the left of the seat up to disengage the blades. The throttle lever has a picture of a rabbit at the top and a turtle at the bottom. Insert the ignition key and turn it to the right to start the engine. Press down the left brake pedal and release your foot from it to disengage the parking brake. The engine should stop if the safety interlock system is working correctly. Restart the engine after applying the brake. The engine should stop with a good safety lock system.
