Stihl was established in 1926 by Andreas Stihl and has grown to become an international manufacturer of chainsaws, blowers and other outdoor equipment. The Shitl BR400 blower is designed to provide plenty of power for a variety of applications.

Engine

The Stihl BR400 utilizes a Stihl two-stroke, single-cylinder engine with a displacement of 3.45 cubic inches. The stroke for the cylinder measures 1.34 inches in depth and the bore is 1.81 inches in diameter. This motor generates 3.4 bhp. The fuel tank has a maximum capacity of 3.2 pt. This engine requires fuel consisting of a mix of gasoline and 50-to-1, two-stroke engine oil. The fuel ratio is one gallon of gasoline for every 2.6 oz. of oil.

Air Flow and Control

Stihl BR400 blowers have an air flow rate of 476 cubic feet per minute with the nozzle and blower tube attached. Maximum air flow is 624 cubic feet per minute. The air velocity with the blower tube and nozzle is 252 feet per second. This blower is controlled using a throttle-style trigger that controls the speed of the engine. Other controls include a stop switch, a throttle setting lever, a pull starter and a choke knob.

Ignition, Carbeuretor and Air Filter

The Stihl BR400 uses an electronic magneto ignition to start the engine. This model has either a NGK BPMR 7A or Bosch WSR 6F spark plug with an electrode gap that measures 0.02 inch. The spark plug uses a thread that is 0.37 inches long. This unit has a carburetor with an all-position, diaphragm design and an integral fuel pump. The blower has a reusable paper element air filter.

Features, Noise and Dimensions

Stihl BR400 blowers feature a harness and a back plate with padding to increase user comfort. This unit also has two rubber buffers to minimize vibration for the operator. The blower accepts a vacuum attachment as well as a blower to mistblower conversion kit. Noise level for this model measures 75 dB. The blower has a width of 18.9 inches, a height of 17.5 inches and a depth of 11 inches. The hardware has a weight of 19.6 lbs. without fuel.
