How To Adjust The Floating Top Links On A Bush Hog Rotary Mower

A Bush Hog rotary mower attaches to the three-point hitch on a compact utility tractor and is designed to mow in heavy areas where the grass is overgrown and cannot be cut by a riding lawnmower. The floating top link is on the three-point hitch of the utility tractor, which allows the front of the Bush Hog to be raised and lowered to get an even cutting swath. Adjusting the link is done easily and takes about five minutes to do.

Step 1

Park the tractor and Bush Hog on a hard, level surface. Pull the three-point hitch lever beside the operator seat on the right; raise the Bush Hog to the "mowing" height.

Step 2

Set the parking brake and turn the key to the "Off" position. Loosen the top nut on the top link with a crescent wrench.

Step 3

Rotate the floating top link by turning the handle clockwise to lower the front of the Bush Hog and counterclockwise to raise the front of the mower until the Bush Hog is level. Tighten the nut on top of the top link with the crescent wrench.
