How to Identify John Deere Lawn Tractor Serial Numbers
The John Deere corporation manufactures dozens of styles and models of lawn tractors for both residential and commercial use. Their products are all identified by a serial number, which Deere also refers to as a product identification number, PIN, or Lawn Mower ID No. Depending on the type of lawn tractor, its features and age of manufacture, the serial number can be found in several different locations on the tractor, according to the John Deere KnowledgeBase. The length of the number sequence will vary as well, largely based on the age of the lawn tractor with more recent models having considerably longer identification numbers than older models.
Locate the serial number or PIN for John Deere 100 Series on the main frame of the tractor near the left rear wheel. It will appear on a sticker affixed to the frame that reads "Manufactured by John Deere" and be 13 or 17 digits long.
Identify the PIN for John Deere Zero-Turn mowers and EZTrak mowers by lifting up and looking under the seat at the top right-hand area of the frame. The 13 or 17 digit number will appear on a sticker that reads "Manufactured by John Deere."
View the serial or PIN on John Deere Steel-Deck Walk-Behind mowers by looking on the left side of the mower deck frame, when standing behind the machine. The number will be 13 or 17 digits and appear on a sticker with the phrase "Manufactured by John Deere."
