How To Prune An Euphorbia Ascot Rainbow Plant

Things Needed

  • Gloves, disposable kitchen
  • Pruning shears
  • Garbage bag

The Euphorbia x martinii "Ascot Rainbow" is a perennial succulent. Heat and drought tolerant, it is an ideal addition to your Mediterranean-style garden. The attractive variegated, cream, lime, green and pink flowers compliment its yellow-edged leaves each spring. The plants are not large, growing to 20 inches tall by 20 inches in diameter. Ascot Rainbow needs very little pruning, but take care when you pinch back or deadhead the old flower stalks.

Tip

Plant the Euphorbia "Ascot Rainbow" in its permanent location. Euphorbia plants, like most succulents, prefer well-drained soils.

Warning

Do not touch the sap. All but one of the succulent Euphorbias have milky sap and are likely to cause an allergic reaction. Do not plant where children or pets may touch or chew on the leaves. Some Euphorbias have thorns. Use extra caution in handling the plants.
