How Keep Squirrels From Chewing Wires
Squirrels require something to chew on constantly. When they chew building wires or wires under cars, the results may be disastrous. Many humane yet effective methods are available to prevent squirrels from chewing wires in and around your house.
Slit the PVC piping lengthwise with the knife and cover wires going overhead. The piping will keep turning and make moving difficult for the squirrel.
Cover all wiring and rigid PVC piping with soft insulation material. Squirrels will not enjoy chewing the soft material.
Powder naphthalene balls and sprinkle over wires to repel squirrels.
Spray taste repellent on all wires once a week to repel squirrels.
Cover all railings and downspouts with masking tape and put sticky polybutenes to prevent squirrels from climbing and chewing wires.
Put jalapeno peppers, cayenne pepper and Tabasco sauce in a pot of water and boil. Fill the liquid in the sprayer and spray over wires. Repeat every two days.
Warning
Do not spray taste repellent on plants that you intend to eat.
