While squirrels are not necessarily harmful or threatening animals to humans, they can often be a nuisance when it comes to your landscaping. The squirrels dig up plant bulbs, rummage through lawn plantings, dig up seeds, and more or less just become an annoyance that you want to keep away from your lawn without causing them any harm. Luckily, there are a few natural herbs that deter squirrels, keeping them out of your lawn without harming the squirrels or the lawn itself.

Fill a spray bottle with 2 cups water and 1 tsp. dish soap. The dish soap is going to work as a slight adhesive that helps the solution stick to surfaces for an extended period of time.

Drop in 2 tbsp. of a spicy herb. Use cayenne pepper, chili powder or any hot pepper spice you have on hand in the home.

Place the lid on the bottle and shake to dissolve the herbs.

Spray the solution over the perimeter of your lawn, or wherever you wish to keep the squirrels away from.

Re-apply every week or so as needed to keep the squirrels away. Also re-apply after strong rain storms and similar events.
